Event Info

Welcome

We have meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at Robert Half Technology in Sacramento (near Arden Way & Business 80) on the second floor; check the visual displays upon arrival to direct you to the meeting room. Most sessions will typically have a keynote; however, throughout the year we schedule a few break-out group sessions designed to provide a forum that allows attendees to discuss real-world SQL Server related questions, issues and concerns which will be addressed as a group.

In an ongoing attempt to make the content presented useful to our members we start each meeting with some time to network and get situated. Unless noted in the meeting notes the schedule for each meeting will be:

6:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Mingle/networking, get beverages, registration and setup
6:15 PM - 6:30 PM: Group announcements, agenda, introduce speaker
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Keynote speaker / presentation
7:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Post-meeting discussions

Next Meeting

Date: Wednesday, June 5, 2013, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Speaker: Robert L. Davis (Remotely, via WebEx)
Topic:
Performance Troubleshooting with DMVs

Abstract:

There are many tools for a DBA to use for performance troubleshooting. One of the best tools are Dynamic Management Views and functions (collectively referred to as DMVs). DMVs offer insight into the inner workings of SQL Server and helps you identify symptoms and track down root cause. The trick is knowing which DMVs to use and how to interpret the data. This session will detail the DMVs that are most useful in troubleshooting performance problems and will show you how to use the information to reach resolution.
